Here is the helpful map of the north part of the park. From this point on I’ll be using the areas I’ve labeled on the map to organize my posts.

Seen blooming….

Fox Den Patch

(I’ve yet to see a fox here this year, by the way)
Evening primrose (Oenothera caespitosa and/or O. albicaulis) – These are about half as tall as last year and the flowers are smaller. (Native)
Fringed puccoon (Lithospermum incisum) – Not very much of it and it isn’t going to last much longer. (Native)
Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) – This seems to be one of the most successful plants in the north part of the park this year. (Alien)

Lithospermum incisum

Medicago sativa

Middle Path, slight hill north of Fox Den Patch

New Mexico locust (Robinia neomexicanus) – These are really looking nice right now. I’d guess they are peaking. (Alien – native to New Mexico)

Robinia neomexicana

Robinia neomexicana

East Path

Lots of alfalfa (Medicago sativa) all along the east path.

Just west of the Boddington playing field

Here is a possible field milkvetch (Astragalus agrestis?) – it has light purple flowers and think leaflets – with a terminal leaflet at the end of each leaf. I’ve only seen two of them and they don’t look like they’ll bloom for long.

Wildflower Meadow Field

Threadleaf yellowrays (Thelesperma filifolium) – These are smaller but still glooming here and in lots of other areas along the east path. (Native)
Astragalus shortianus just now finishing. (Native)
Fringed puccoon (Lithospermum incisum) – Just two plants blooming this year. (Native)

Thelesperma filifolium

Stone Drainage Ditch

Threadleaf yellowrays (Thelesperman filifolium) (Native)
Wild onions (Allium textile) – These are starting to look like they’ll finish blooming soon. I also see lots of plants with leaves but no flowers this year. (Native)
Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) (Alien)
Western spiderwort (Tradescantia occidentalis) – One of my favorites, but boy these are tiny this year! (Native)
Heartleaf four-o’clock (Oxybaphus nictagineus) – This is in bud right down in the ditch. Looks like the flowers won’t be big this year. (Native)
